Setting Direction

Goal 1: Addressing Issues

  • To gain a deeper understanding of the school environment from the student perspective by gathering student experiences through conversations and surveys

Goal 2: Educate Teachers

  • Share student experiences with teachers through equity workshops and unpack the experiences to create a positive, inclusive learning environment

Goal 3: Increase Awareness and Secure Accountability

  • Ensure next steps are identified for staff by receiving feedback for iteration

Building Relationships

Relationships are built with staff through icebreakers, activities, and consolidation. These relationships ensure a comfortable environment for sharing different perspectives on the issue.

Action and Improvement

The workshops are designed to not only educate teachers about the student perspective, but make use of their learning in their daily routines. Throughout the workshops, teachers are encouraged to have conversations with their own students and think about personal ways they can take action on the issue of gender inequity. Teachers will compare their perspective with student perspective. They will also be asked to provide feedback, in order to improve their own learning in addition to the workshop.

Securing Accountability

Towards the end of the workshops, teacher participants come together to brainstorm innovative ways that equity can be incorporated into their schools. They will walk away with a better understanding of the student perspective.
